Student Logins to the Portal

Learn whether students can have their own portal login, what they can access, and how to enable student logins.

Written by Cristina Gruita

Students can have their own login details for the portal if this feature is enabled for your school.

This allows students to access their own dashboard and view their own information, such as homework, timetables, and other student-facing pages.

This article explains what student logins include, what students can and cannot complete, and how to request setup.

โš ๏ธImportant: Student logins are an optional feature and must be enabled for your school. To set this up, you need to raise a case and request student logins.

Understand What Student Logins Allow

When student logins are enabled:

  • Students have their own login details.

  • Students see their own dashboard.

  • Students can access their own data, such as:

    • Homework.

    • Timetables.

    • Other student-facing portal pages.

You can control how much information students can see, so the portal can be set up to show students as much or as little as your school requires.

Choose Which Year Groups Can Log In

Student logins do not need to be enabled for all students.

You can choose which Year Groups should have student logins, so that only the students who need access are able to sign in.

This gives you flexibility to:

  • Enable student logins for older year groups only.

  • Roll out logins in phases.

  • Disable student logins for specific year groups if needed later.

Understand Custom Forms for Students

Students can complete any Custom Forms that are assigned to them.

๐Ÿ“ŒNote: Students cannot complete the Guardian Details question type in a Custom Form.

If you are using Custom Forms for students, make sure the form content is appropriate for student completion and does not rely on guardian-only question types.

Understand the Setup Requirement and Cost

To create student user accounts, the studentsโ€™ email addresses must be synced through from your MIS.

There is a charge for this feature:

  • 50p per student, per term.

You only pay this fee for the students you want to have logins.

This means you can control costs by enabling logins only for the specific students or year groups who need access.

Request Student Logins

To set up student logins for your school:

  1. Raise a new case online.

  2. Reference the title of this article: Student Logins to the Portal.

  3. Include details of the year groups you want student logins enabled for.

Once configured, eligible students will be able to log in using their synced email details.
