Enhanced Support for iSAMS Exam Access Arrangements
Schools using iSAMS can now benefit from improved handling of exam access arrangements within My School Portal. The updated functionality supports both traditional Global arrangements, which apply to all exams, and iSAMS’s newer Flexible arrangements, which can be assigned to individual exam papers.
Key enhancements
Clearer arrangement categories – arrangements are now grouped into:
Permanent arrangements applying to all examinations.
Date-specific arrangements.
Exam-specific arrangements (Flexible).
Improved visibility of exam details: exam codes and names are now shown when Flexible arrangements are used.
Notes grouped by category for clearer understanding.
Updated terminology: “Special Arrangements” renamed to “Arrangements”.
My School Portal now handles the arrangement model used by each school:
Global Arrangements: shown under the “All Examinations” section and applied across all exam cycles.
Flexible Arrangements: allow settings for individual exams. Where both types exist, the exam-specific arrangement overrides the permanent one.
Automatic configuration detection: MSP identifies whether Flexible Arrangements are enabled and retrieves data accordingly. Legacy endpoint users continue unchanged.
Additional improvements:
Arrangements displayed in grouped cards with clear headers.
Automatic removal of “All Examinations” heading when no exam-specific arrangements exist.
Updated Day Planner view showing arrangements per exam session.
New admin configuration option
A new setting is available in the Tabbed Exam content page under Additional Options: “Include Exam Arrangements on Timetable?” — allowing administrators to control whether arrangements appear on the student timetable. This setting has also been added to the legacy exam timetable page.
This gives admins three configuration options:
Include Exam Arrangements Tab? – Shows the arrangements tab.
Include Exam Arrangements on Timetable? – Displays arrangements on the Timetable tab.
Include Exam Arrangement Notes? – Shows notes on both the Arrangements and Timetable tabs.
This setting defaults to ON to match previous behaviour.
Important information for iSAMS schools
To use Flexible Arrangements, schools must update their iSAMS API key by adding the “Flexible Arrangements” endpoint in the API Key Manager. Schools that do not update their key will continue using the Global-only model. If you need help adjusting your API settings, our support team can assist.
Layout updates
The arrangement layout now adjusts based on data returned from iSAMS.
Without the Flexible Arrangements endpoint:
Notes may apply to all categories.
With the Flexible Arrangements endpoint:
Some notes may appear with prefixes such as “Migrated (Possible Duplicate):”, reflecting iSAMS API data.
