A Bulletin Board is a flexible content/announcement area that you can display on a home page dashboard. You can use it to highlight messages such as “Welcome back to school”, promote new features in the portal, or advertise upcoming events that are open for booking.

The same Bulletin Board content is shared for all users who see it, so it is not specific to a particular year group or user type.

⚠️Important: You must be able to access the Admin Control Panel and Content Manager to set up and manage the Bulletin Board. To add the Bulletin Board widget to a dashboard, you may also need help from support. For managing dashboard widgets in general, see Update Dashboards.

Set Up The Bulletin Board Content Page

Follow these steps to create the content that will appear in the Bulletin Board widget.

  1. Log in to the portal as an Admin user, then click Admin Control Panel.

  2. In the left-hand menu, click Content, then click Content Manager.

  3. Under the Sections heading, click Add new page (purple rectangle with a white cross).

  4. In the Page Type menu, click Content Page.

  5. In the Content section, complete the fields:

    • Section: Click the section where you want the page to sit, often within Static Content.

    • Page Name: Enter a clear name for your page (for example, “Home Bulletin Board”).

    • Tag: Enter bulletin-board as the tag.

      • This tag tells the system that this page should feed the Bulletin Board area on the home page.

    • Content: Add your Bulletin Board content (text, links, documents, images, video links, or any other content you would normally use on a portal content page).

  6. Scroll to the Permissions section.

  7. Set Page enabled? to active (ticked) if you want the page to be visible to users immediately.

  8. Click Save.

📌Note: The Bulletin Board only appears on the dashboard if text or content has been added to the tagged bulletin-board page in Content Manager.

Display The Bulletin Board On A Dashboard

Once the content page is created and tagged as bulletin-board, you need the Bulletin Board widget added to the appropriate dashboard.

  1. Raise a case with support and confirm which dashboard the Bulletin Board widget should be added to (for example, Guardian home page or Student home page).

  2. Wait for confirmation that the widget has been added to the requested dashboard.

  3. If you manage dashboards yourself, open Admin Control Panel, then Content, then Dashboards, and edit the relevant dashboard as described in Update Dashboards.

  4. Check that the Bulletin Board widget is present and positioned where you want it on the dashboard layout.

📌Note: The Bulletin Board content is general across all users who see that dashboard. It cannot target specific Year Groups or User Types.
