My School Portal can integrate with SOCS so parents and guardians can view sports fixtures and results directly in the portal without needing to visit the SOCS website separately.
This integration can also create linked calendar events for fixtures and display team sheet information on event pages.
⚠️Important: To enable this integration, SOCS must first provide the XML feed URLs used by My School Portal.
What the SOCS Integration Does
When SOCS is integrated with My School Portal, the portal can:
Import sports fixtures and results into the Sports Fixtures and Results area.
Import team sheet data from SOCS.
Automatically link students in the team sheet to the fixture.
Show those students on the team list of the linked event details page.
Optionally create events automatically in the Events Calendar.
By default, the SOCS feed updates once a day, between 2 am and 5 am.
If you need a more frequent import schedule, up to hourly, contact support.
📌Note: More frequent imports are available at an additional charge.
Request the SOCS XML Feeds
To start the integration:
Contact SOCS.
Ask them to enable the XML feeds used by My School Portal.
Request the feed URLs from SOCS.
📌Note: SOCS currently charge schools a small fee for using XML feeds.
You cannot activate the integration in My School Portal until SOCS has enabled the feeds and provided the URLs.
Raise a Case to Activate the Integration
Once you have the SOCS feed URLs:
Raise a new case online.
Reference the title of this article: “Integrate with SOCS sports fixtures and results”.
Include the SOCS XML feed URLs in your case.
Tell support which automatic event generation option you want to use.
The support team will then:
Validate the SOCS feed.
Apply the correct configuration changes.
Confirm once the setup has been completed.
Choose How Fixtures Should Create Events
When raising your case, choose one of the following options for automatic event generation.
Option 1 – Do not create calendar events automatically
Choose this if you want to:
Import the data only into Sports Fixtures and Results.
Avoid creating linked events in the Events Calendar.
Use this option if you only want fixture and result information visible in the sports area of the portal.
Option 2 – Create one calendar event per fixture
Choose this if you want:
One Events Calendar entry for every fixture.
A direct one-to-one link between the fixture and its event.
Use this option if you want each fixture shown as a separate event.
Option 3 – Create grouped calendar events
Choose this if you want fixtures to be grouped into a single event where they are similar.
Grouped events are created where fixtures share the same:
Sport.
Day.
Start time.
Opposition.
Home/Away setting.
Use this option if you want to reduce the number of calendar events and combine similar fixtures together.
Understand Team Sheet Visibility
The SOCS integration also imports team sheet data and links the relevant students to the fixture automatically.
Those students are then shown in the team list on the linked event details page.
By default:
The team sheet is only visible to guardians who have a student playing in the fixture.
If you want the team sheet to be visible to all guardians, regardless of whether they have a student in the fixture:
Raise a new case online.
Reference the title of this article: “Integrate with SOCS sports fixtures and results”.
Ask for the team sheet visibility to be changed for your portal.
