Mobile app Guardian guide

Log in to the MSP mobile app, navigate the main tabs, enable notifications, and manage security features such as reauthentication.

This article explains how guardians can access the MSP mobile app, add their school account, use the main areas of the app, and manage settings such as notifications and school profiles.

End users will be able to access the school account via the app by either searching for "Access My School Portal" within the app store, or by using one of the following QR codes:

⚠️Important: To use the app, your device must have a PIN, passcode, or biometric authentication enabled. During first-time login, the app may ask you to set this up before you can continue.


Log In to the MSP Mobile App

Once you have downloaded the app, follow these steps to sign in to your school account.

  1. Open the MSP mobile app.

  2. Tap Get Started.

  3. Tap Continue.

  4. In the search bar, start typing your child’s school name.

  5. Select the correct school from the list.

  6. Enter your MSP login credentials on the login page.

  7. Tap to log in.

Once login is complete, the app loads and you can begin using it.

📌Note: If you have more than one school account, you can add additional schools later through the Settings area.


Understand the Main Navigation

After logging in, you will see the Home screen and four main buttons at the bottom of the app.

Home

The Home tab shows your school dashboard and your child’s key academic information, such as:

  • Timetables.

  • Reports.

  • Day planner.

Inbox

The Inbox tab shows messages from your school.

You can use filters to view:

  • Unread messages.

  • Favourite messages.

  • Messages sent by email.

  • Messages sent by SMS.

📌Note:

  • Push notifications only work if your school uses MSP’s messaging system.

  • If not, messages still appear in your inbox, but you will not receive push alerts.

Bookings

The Bookings tab is where you manage items such as:

  • Appointments.

  • Activities.

  • Payments.

  • Clubs.

  • Trips.

  • Parents’ evenings.

More

The More tab gives access to additional school resources, which may include:

  • News.

  • Media galleries.

  • School information.

  • Parent information.

  • Helpful links.

📌Note:

  • The structure of each tab and the content available depends on what your school has enabled.

  • Contact your school if you need more information about what is available in your app.


Enable Inbox Notifications

Inbox notifications must be turned on manually.

To enable them:

  1. Return to the Home screen.

  2. Tap the settings cog in the top-right corner.

  3. Tick the Notifications checkbox.

  4. Confirm the permission request on your phone to allow notifications.

The Settings area also lets you:

  • Add additional schools to the app.

  • View the privacy policy.


Understand App Security Features

The MSP mobile app includes several security features to protect your data.

Session timeout

  • The app locks after one hour of inactivity.

  • You must then reauthenticate using your PIN, passcode, or biometrics.

Reauthentication after 30 days

  • If you have not used the app for 30 days, you will be asked to reauthenticate using your username and password.

App updates

  • When a new version of the app is available, you may be prompted to update it so you have the latest features and improvements.


Reactivate a School Profile Manually

If you need to reauthenticate a school profile manually:

  1. Log in to the app as normal.

  2. Tap the settings button in the top-right corner.

  3. Tap Manage School Profiles.

  4. Select Reactivate Profile.

  5. Follow the on-screen steps to complete reauthentication.
