Create Event Categories and Subcategories

Create event categories and subcategories so events can be organised and filtered more easily in the portal.

This article explains how to create event categories and event subcategories in My School Portal.

Categories help group similar events together, and subcategories give you an extra level of organisation when managing and displaying events.

Create an Event Category

  1. Log in as an Admin user.

  2. Click Admin Control Panel.

  3. Click Events, then click Event Categories & Subcategories Manager.

  4. Click Add new event category.

  5. Complete the following fields:

    • Event Category Name – Enter the name of the new category.

    • Event Category Enabled – Select this if you want the category to be available for use.

    • User Types – Select the user types that should be able to view this category.

  6. Click Save changes.

The new event category is now available to use.

πŸ“Œ Note: If you do not select any User Types, the category is visible to all user types.


Create an Event Subcategory

  1. Log in as an Admin user.

  2. Click Admin Control Panel.

  3. Click Events, then click Event Categories & Subcategories Manager.

  4. Open the relevant event category, if required.

  5. Click Add New Event Subcategory.

  6. In the Event Subcategory Name field, enter the name of the new subcategory.

  7. Click Save changes.

The new subcategory is now saved and linked to the category.
