The Attendance page lets schools display student attendance (as recorded in the MIS) directly in the portal. Parents and guardians can pick a child, see a day-by-day table of attendance, a key explaining each icon, and a handy widget showing attendance percentages at a glance.
This article explains how to:
Add an Attendance content page.
Configure AM/PM and weekday display.
Understand iSAMS registration options.
Review and edit attendance codes and icons.
Add An Attendance Page In Content Manager
Log in to the portal as an Admin user.
Click Admin Control Panel.
On the sidebar, open the Content drop-down and click Content Manager.
Next to the Sections heading, click Add new page (purple rectangle with a white cross).
In the Page Type menu, select Attendance.
In the Additional options section, choose:
Whether to show AM/PM columns
Whether to show individual weekdays.
In the Permissions section:
Page enabled: Tick this to display the page to users immediately after saving.
Section visible to all users:
Leave ticked if everyone who can access this section should see the Attendance page.
Clear this box if you want to restrict by School, Year Group, or User permissions.
Click Save Changes.
Your Attendance page is now created and will display attendance data based on the MIS connection and permissions you’ve set.
Configure AM/PM Registrations
The Attendance page can show separate AM and PM registration columns.
To configure this:
Edit the Attendance content page in Content Manager.
In the Attendance page options, select or clear:
Show AM column?
Show PM column?
Click Save Content (or Save Changes, depending on your portal wording).
📌Note:
Both options are ticked by default when the Attendance page is first added.
If you do not want to show AM and/or PM separately, untick the relevant checkboxes.
iSAMS Registration Information
For iSAMS schools, attendance data is pulled via the iSAMS API.
By default:
The portal uses the
RegistrationStatusandGetoutofSchoolRecordsendpoints. When using these endpoints, you will be asked to provide a time which the portal uses to find and populate the next nearest lesson’s attendance to show the PM registration status.
As an additional option:
The portal can use the
GetRegistrationPeriodsendpoint instead. This allows PM registration to be populated directly from the PM registration field in iSAMS.
If you want to use GetRegistrationPeriods for PM registration:
Please contact the support team and ask them to configure this for your school.
Display School Weekdays
If your school only records attendance on specific days (for example, Monday–Friday only):
Edit the Attendance page in Content Manager.
In the Attendance options, you will see checkboxes from Show Monday? through to Show Sunday?
Tick or clear each day to match your school’s timetable.
Click Save Content.
📌Note:
Monday to Friday are enabled by default when the page is first added.
Deselect weekend days or any days your school does not record attendance.
Review And Edit Attendance Codes And Icons
Attendance codes themselves are pulled directly from your MIS and cannot be added in the portal. However, you can edit how they appear in the portal, including their names, types, and icons.
Each Attendance Code includes:
Name
Type – One of the four government types:
Present
Authorised
Unauthorised
Exceptional
Icon – The symbol shown in the Attendance table and key.
📌Note: If an icon appears blank on a child’s Attendance page, it means no icon has been set for that code in the Attendance Codes manager.
Edit Attendance Codes And Icons
In the Admin Control Panel, go to the General drop-down.
Click Attendance Codes manager.
From the list, select the attendance code you want to edit.
The Attendance Code panel opens.
Review/update the code details as needed:
Name – Display name for the code.
Type – Ensure the correct type is set (Present, Authorised, Unauthorised, Exceptional).
Under the Icon section:
You’ll see a grid of available icons.
Use the search bar to filter by a keyword (for example, “tick”, “cross”, “late”).
Click an icon to select it; the selected icon will show in the Icon field.
Click Save to apply your changes.
Once saved the chosen icon will appear in the Attendance table and in the key for that code across the Attendance page.
